I came across this Broadbent-Johnson chart in the Hugh Johnson World Atlas of Wine (1977 edition) under the heading tasting. It is a simple mechanism of charting your tasting notes based upon sight (4 points) Smell (4 Points) Taste (9 points) and Overall Quality (3 points). For more details and how you do the ranking then refer to the Hugh Johnson world atlas of wine (mine is an old copy). After trying this out for a few years I have modified it slightly to be :
3 points: Sight
4 points: Bouquet
8 points: Taste
3 points: After Taste
2 points: Overall quality.
